The Gary Moser Memorial Fund for Africa

Building schools and supporting students in under-served communities for almost 20 years.

The mission of The Gary Moser Memorial Fund for Africa (Gary's Fund) is to provide funding for the construction and rehabilitation of pre-schools and kindergartens in African communities where there are none and to provide continuing support such as food, medication, supplies, and teacher training. Our goal is to help improve the quality of life and increase opportunities for future success for the youngest children in these communities thus benefitting all who live there .

Gary's Fund was founded in 2004 to honor Gary Moser, who dedicated his career to development work in Africa.

Our first kindergarten, Nkasioki School, funded by Gary's Fund in 2007, began with an enrollment of 40 kindergarteners and is now a full primary school and show piece for the region with over 225 students enrolled. To date we have funded the construction or major rehabilitation of 6 schools in three countries, provided funding for daily meals for hundreds of our students and formal teacher training for staff at most of our schools. We also continue to provide ongoing support at all schools based on their needs.

We are proud of the success of our projects and look forward to continuing our work, helping some of the world's most vulnerable people receive an education in a safe and productive environment.

Building Pre-Schools and Kindergartens

Ongoing Support

Community Support

The construction of six pre-schools or kindergartens in three countries have been funded by Gary's Fund since 2007. All schools were built where there was a critical need and committed adults. Our schools must be available to all children in the community, regardless of ethnicity, gender, race, or religion. We focus on providing education and support for the youngest students, benefitting the whole community.

We continue to support communities after the initial construction project has been  completed. We provide ongoing  funding for facilities improvements and additions, plus food, medication and school supplies to the students, as well as formal teacher training for school staff. Since the onset of COVID we have provided a daily meal at school for  hundreds of students enrolled in our schools for a few U.S. Cents/meal.

All of our construction projects enabled our schools to reach the standards required to register as government schools. This status  allows them to receive  critical subsidies and support. All  projects are entered into with the full support of the school communities.  The adults  are expected to demonstrate their commitment to ensuring their school's success by actively  contributing partial payments, labor and/or other support.
